All For Love

my current LSS ...
truly a wonderful song!

All For Love
by Hillsong

All for love the father gave
For only love could make a way
All for love the heavens cried
For love was crucified

Oh how many times have i broken your heart
But still you forgive
If only i ask
And how many times have you heard me pray
Draw near to me

Everything i need is you
My beginning, my forever
Everything i need is you

Let me sing all for love
I will join the angels song
Ever holy is the lord
King of glory
King of all

All for a love a saviour prayed
Abba father have your way
Though they know not what they do
Let the cross draw man to you

happy 4th!

with much anticipation, hun & i celebrated our 4th civil wedding anniversary last wednesday, october 7, 2009

hunnie bought me some cream puffs & eclairs from happy cream puff before he picked me up from work and then we headed to new manila to pick-up my new sony w290.  since it was still to early before our agreed meet-up time hun & i went to cara mia to pass some time.

hun & i shared a slice of merry berries gelato cake.  masarap naman but it was a lil' too sweet for my taste.  i guess its really meant to be shared coz mejo nakakumay nga yung sweetness.

anyway, i also tried the cream puff that hun bought me and yun talaga, yummmie! ^__^

we would have had our dinner at the adjoining amici resto but we were pressed for time already so we went to see the ebay seller at the designated pick-up place.  the transaction was fast and easy and in a few minutes i was playing with my bnew camera na.

we headed to our usual japanese food place along panay avenue to have dinner.  to my dismay, ubos na daw yung tuna sashimi nila T_T ... we had california maki & ebi tempura instead for dinner.

we originally planned to have coffee afterwards (great with the happy eclairs, i reckon) pero hunnie was too tired so we decided to cut our date short call it a night already.

ay naku, altho mejo bitin yung date namin that night i was really happy that i was able to spend it with my one true love.

besides, we always go out on dates for no apparent reason so we could always make up for it next time -- which we did last weekend :)

**we went out on a date again last friday at sm north after buying a fancy pouch for my cam and again last sunday afer church (kasama na si nishi nun!)

promise, i'll go back to amici & caramia gelateria one of these days.  their cakes (the real ones) looks really tempting!

*will post pics in the photo section soon

Typhoon Preparation And Checklist

a repost from smartparenting

Typhoon Checklist:

1. Food and water
Better if you store food that doesn 19t easily spoil like canned goods, noodles and food cooked with vinegar
2. Disposable utensils
3. Can and bottle openers
4. Plastic-ware to store food and supplies
5. First Aid Kit
6. Flashlights and candles
7. Games and activities
8. Paper towels
9. Garbage bags

Typhoon Preparation

Plan In Advance

1. Check if you can remain in your home during the typhoon. You may be able to ride out a weak typhoon but will need to evacuate for stronger storms. Listen for warnings from your local government officials or official local media broadcasts in situations where evacuation is ordered. Note the evacuation routes and plan to leave early.

2. Make lists of television and radio stations where you can get storm information, phone numbers to call in case of emergencies and locations of relief shelters. Get directions for the relief shelters.

3. Have a location for you and your family members to meet if you get separated and the number of a relative in the province to call to say everyone is safe. Have a list of phone numbers of relatives that you will want to inform about your condition. The out-of-town relative can be the one to start the phone brigade to your list after learning you are okay.

4. Find a place to take your pets where they will be safe if you have to evacuate. Some relief centers may not allow pets.
Remember to turn off electricity, water and gas to your home before evacuating.

Put Together A Typhoon Kit

1. Pack food that doesn't have to be refrigerated or cooked along with disposable plates, bowls, forks, knives and spoons. Each person and pet in the home should have enough to eat for three days. For those with babies, please remember that exclusive breastfeeding is best for infants up to six months old. This is especially important in times of calamities and emergencies.

2. Store water. Each person needs three gallons of clean water to drink and to use for washing. Pets also need water. For babies, please note that they are constantly feeding. If you are formula feeding or doing mixed feeding, please store additional sterilized water for your baby (both for feeding and cleaning bottles).

3. Have flashlights, oil lamps, lanterns and candles, along with extra batteries, matches and fuel on hand.

4. Include a first aid kit in your typhoon kit.

5. Pack board games, reading materials, card decks and a battery-operated radio. For babies and small children, make sure to include a favorite toy or blanket.

6. Prepare a box of garbage bags and paper towels.

Pack Your Bags

1. Pack a small bag or backpack for each person in the home. It should include clothes and toiletries for three days. For babies, make sure to include cloth or disposable diapers and extra plastic bags to store diapers or soiled cloth diapers.

2. Include a blanket and pillow for each person and place them in garbage bags (to keep them dry) to take along when evacuating.

3. Include a small water-proof bag or satchel of photos and documents you want to keep dry and safe, such as wills, passports and government-issued certificates.

4. Place everyone's bag and bed bundle near the door so they can be quickly loaded into the car if you decide to evacuate. Make sure your car has enough gas.

bagyo

its raining again and i cant help but worry about the upcoming typhoon parma, aka pepeng, as everyone is still reeling from the vast devastation of ondoy's fury.

tapos eto nanaman. tsk tsk ... katakot!!

lucky for my family mataas yung place namin @ TS and we had plenty of provisions during ondoy's rampage.  the worst thing i had to deal with was the leaking roof in our service area.  because of that i had to mop the floor several times and use 2 dippers and 2 ice cream containers to catch the water dripping from the roof.  nag-brownout din so my hunnie had to go out and buy some candles.  nearby stores were closed (as expected) kaya he had to walk all the way to eunilane pa.  buti na lang knee-high lang daw yung baha.  water service was also interrupted for several hours pero ok lang naman yun.  everything was back to normal by 7pm.  i was even on fb around 8pm.  lucky me.

si yaya naman, MIA until nag-monday.  i was worried sick about her pero thank God she was safe. the rest of her family were safe as well.

my mom's place in sta.mesa was flooded daw pero the water only rose to about 20".  i havent seen her yet so i dont really know the full extent of the damages in our old house but im pretty sure very minimal lang yun.  the rest of my family, including my in-laws were all ok.  hindi sila binaha at all and the worst they encountered was power interruption.

needless to say, we were all so blessed.

---

some people werent as lucky.  watching the news on tv moves me to tears these days.  seeing lives and properties destroyed just like that makes me realize that everyone is indeed vulnerable.

dito na lang sa jb-r&d, 6 ang affected ng floods.  while all of them are safe and well,  their worldly possesions are a different story.  anyway,  those are just stuff. whats important is that their lives were spared, pati na din yung loved-ones nila.

the rest of the peeps here at jb-r&d have already made some effort to provide relief goods for the affected families. a small party was organized to see them and drop off the goods this morning.  sana nga nakasama ako pero i was swamped with work (what new with that?).

anyways, i wish them all the best and sana nga maka-recover na din sila.

---

the worry-wart that i am insists on taking a bottle of water with me wherever i go.  feeling ko mas-stranded ako on my way home whenever i see gray skies, lalo na pag umuulan ng konti. grabe ka ondoy, what have you done!

sa house naman fully prepped na din kami, kumpleto na ng supplies pero i still want to pack a bag filled with emergency stuff -- just in case.  natatawa na nga lang sa akin si hubs kasi its true naman na its very unlikely that we'll get flooded... sa taas ba naman ng lugar namin!  well,  im pretty sure yun din ang iniisip nung mga taong na-stuck sa mga bubong nila nung una.  so there, for my sanity's sake id be packing that bag when i get home mamaya.

tagal naman ng uwian!

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W290

im sooo crushing on this sony cam.

... miss ko na yung camera ko ...
sira pa din hanggang ngayon

ayan tuloy, im thinkin of buying a replacement already
*sigh*

rawr!

nishi's 4th tooth came out last sept 11.  it was tiny and a lil sharp so we thought it was chipped, as nishi has that habit of grinding her tiny lower teeth on that area.  anyway, it wasnt really chipped so ayun, kumpleto na ang central incisors ng anak ko.  lateral incisors should be next then yung canines followed by her molars. hay naku, i really wish that she wouldnt bite me anymore when she's nursing!

we saw her pedia for her measels shot last sept 12.  finally, tapos na kami sa vaccines nya!  we'll be seeing dra. gayo after her first birthday na.  at 9 months and 3 days, she measures 72cm and weighs 11.5kgs.  nappy size nya is still xl (buti na lang!) ... speaking of nappies, bear123 is still oos.  buti na lang hiyang naman siya sa EQ dry and besides i be switching her to that brand soon when she's xxl size na.

---

i had my hair cut and layered at acqua salon last sept16.  as expected, daming tikwas so i had it relaxed last sept18.  kamusta naman, fly away pa din!  owel, grunge kung grunge ... the question is, at 27, bagay pa ba sa akin ang grunge?

hehe :P

---

anyways, nishi was dedicated last sept. 19 at vcf-fort.  the theme was a garden full of bees and ang ganda nung decorations nila sa assembly hall.  we're really fortunate that nishi was in a very good mood that day so ayun, she was all smiles and it seems that she has gotten over her 'stranger anxiety' phase.  as such, super friends na ulit si nishi and papang, pati na din yung girls from bulacan hehe :P

after the ceremony we all went to jollibee greenmeadows to have lunch.  kunwari na lang we're still following the 'bee' theme kaya sa jollibee yung kainan afterwards :P  nishi ate a lot of jb macaroni soup, which was diluted of course, aside from the kababayan-like pastry from delifrance.  eat all you can naman so busog lahat sila and everyone had fun, lalo na yung kids kasi may playland sa 1st floor.  talaga naman, basta sa jollibee, bida ang saya :)

hindi na kami natuloy nila kalyks & jengaloo sa elbi trip namin last weekend.  we'll be rescheduling that on a later time, tba na lang muna the date.

---

i'll be posting more abt the parenting seminar that hun & i have attended prior to nishi's child dedication.

back to work na muna ... ahahaay!!

Sep. 9th, 2009

one of those mommy posts

nishi's first 2 lower front teeth came out last july 6 and last august 28 her left upper front tooth came out naman.  the one on the right hasnt erupted just yet pero im sure malapit na malapit na yun.  im glad that nishi's ok with brushing her teeth with a finger toothbrush plus her orange-flavored sansfluo toothpaste.  buti na lang she's already used to getting proper oral hygiene this early.  i can just imagine how tough it'll be if we hafta wrestle muna everytime i need to brush her teeth.

my sweetheart can now pull-up and sit down by herself. mabilis din siya mag-crawl sa floor pero prefers to cruise if its possible.  she talks a lot too, mostly sounds like mamama and dadada tsaka hala! ... nakuha yata sa akin yung 'hala!' :P  grabe nga yun, super likot, di mapakali and super daldal.  altho kapagod sabayan yung pagiging hyper nya eh enjoy naman ako.  btw, she now knows how to wave bye-bye ala miss universe.  there's a difference you know...ahehehe~

on a slightly sad note, nag-mixed feeding na si nishi last friday september 4th.  naubos na kasi yung stock ko sa freezer and since my pumping yield is not enough (just around 15-17oz per day) eh no choice but to supplement na with formula.  nishi finishes around 25-30oz of milk these days plus solids pa.  i thought magde-decrease yung milk intake nya once she starts on solids pero hindi din pala.  takaw eh and she's really irritable if she doesnt get her fill of milk AND solids for the day. anyway im just glad that my girl is already very healthy as it is and having to supplement with formula, altho not exactly the best eh its not exactly the worst either.  hindi pa naman batang-am ang anak ko so i dont have to get myself too worked up.  im choosing not get upset about my diminishing milk supply kasi baka lalo kumonti dahil sa stress -- mahirap na.

so there, my gameplan is prayers + oatmeal + malunggay + soupy ulam + more pumping = more milk (i hope!)

---

since BER months na, i hafta take nishi's bday preps seriously na.  anyway its just a matter of booking my suppliers na lang naman coz i've already done my research dati pa.  besides, its just a small and simple party.

things to do:
1. pay dp for the venue c/o enen
2. have food tasting with the caterer
3. pay the caterer upon booking
4. book chairs & table rental supplier
5. book ice cream cart supplier
6. confirm with albuzz (the photographer) if we're still go
7. DIY invites
8. DIY tarpaulin banner
9. DIY guestsheets
10. divi trip for balloons and lootbag contents
11. pick a cake design @ shoppesville
12. venue ocular, buy extra bulbs if necessary
13. buy nishi's birthday attire
14. get a gift registry (?)

...shucks ang dami pa pala!

---

oo nga pala, BER months na and kamusta naman ang diet ko?  so far, ive lost 5 pounds pero chempre hindi halata hahaha. i still eat rice every now and then tapos i still eat cakes paminsan-minsan. i still dont excercise coz im ALWAYS TOO LAZY to do so! ... nyay!! goodluck na lang talaga :P

---

i met with my friends from unilever last friday at sm megamall.  opkors, kwentuhang malupit while having dinner at sushi-ya (my treat) up until store closing.  we had coffee afterwards at sbc (lyka's treat) and we've formulated a plan to go out of town this coming september 20-21.  yup! were taking advantage of the long weekend thanks to the eid'l fitr holiday :)

that'll be a very busy (long) weekend indeed coz nishi's child dedication is on sept 19th na. anyways, i've already filed my VL on the 22nd para may pahinga naman after our aventure @ elbi.

excited na ako!

---

my kindergarden puend gave birth yesterday to a [bouncing] baby boy.  i wanted to visit her na nga kaya lang gagabihin naman ako ng sobra so i'll see her this coming weekend na lang.

congrats dj and welcome to mommyhood!

konting kwento

i got a little depressed sometime 2 weeks ago because of the sorry state of fabella hospital.  i've had sleeping problems for several days but thankfully i was able to come around and snap out of my depression.  altho im able to sleep better now, i admit that i still feel sad every now and then whenever i think about those poor babies.  come to think of it, it'll surely be easier for me if i just let myself become numb and jaded but i dont really want to.  i dont want to let go.  not that crave all that drama but i believe that having and showing compassion shouldnt put me in such a rut.  i guess i just have to keep myself from getting too emotional about these things and find comfort in praying fervently for these people.

yun lang naman ang magagawa ko as of now.
besides, im not one to underestimate the power of prayers.

so there.

pray. pray. pray.

---

i just came from my 4-day vacation and tho i was able to spend it at home super enjoy naman ako coz i was able to spend it with hubs and nishi.  the down-time and afternoon naps were sooo nice tapos nakapag-marathon pa ako ng house s5. chempre enjoy ko din yung play time namin ni nishi altho there were time na halos sumuko ako sa likot nya.  hyper likot and kulit na talaga ng sweetheart ko!

then there was the divi trip last friday with haniboy.  i wanted to go there for the longest time (since my birthday, actually!) kaya lang recession diba so the shopping trip was postponed indefinitely.  anyway, hun surprised me last friday by telling me that he was able to save some cash from his allowance (which isnt a lot, btw!) and he was giving me that money for shopping daw.  i was really touched!  so ayun, finally natuloy din yung divi trip namin.  with the 2k budget that hun gave me i was able to buy 6 tops, 2 pants, and 2 pairs of shoes -- ang saya! :)

since i didnt get spend my allowance last week i was able to treat haniboy naman for lunch at wai ying.  grabe, i really missed their hakaw and siomai.  anyways, im finally convinced that ongpin is not that far from qc afterall.  malamang we'll go back there sooner than my next trip to divi.

---

hun, nishi and i went to vcf fort for the 11am service last sunday and nakakatuwa coz nishi was surprisingly well-behaved throughout the service (well for the most part of it anyway!)  she only had 2 episodes of kakulitan, bored siguro so ayun kumanta siya bigla ng wa-wa-wa-wa :P

we submitted a photocopy of her birth cert afterwards for the child dedication on 9/19.  we were told that this year's theme would be a garden full of bees and i bet that it'll be awesome.  im pretty excited din coz my in-laws would be coming pati na din sila papang.  im actually hoping that they will get a good impression of our church and that they will be encouraged to attend with us every sunday.

just an afterthought.

pray. pray. pray.

---

in one week's time, september na!  im happy about it coz finally, tapos na ang recession sa household namin yey!

update on the cause for fabella

nakakatuwa coz there was an overwhelming outpour of donations at cecile's site.  gosh! she was able to raise P115K in just 3 days after blogging about the sorry state of the said hospital.

hindi pa kasama jan yung money for the hermes bag that is still being auctioned at accessory lab which is, at this time, has the highest bid price of P50k.

then theres another auction thats ongoing for a certain pair of earrings created by this jewelry designer for the same cause.  to date, nasa P20k+ na daw yung highest bid.

even second hand baby stuff like baby linens, recieving blankets, and breastpumps are welcome.  these can be dropped off at pepperlunch resto at the powerplant mall at rockwell.

---

i am indeed happy for all the support that has been given for the benefit of fabella hospital.

sana it wouldnt stop here.

sana madami pang tumulong at sana madami pang mag-donate.

It's such a joy to be able to capture them whether they're in their most innocent or most mischievous moments. But this experience was different, and definitely one I would never forget.<br><br>Last Tuesday, Jorem and I went to the Dr. Jose Fabella Hospital with Rea Gomez-Harrow to shoot some pictures to post on the Moms for Moms site. It was probably the hardest shoot I've ever been through in all my years of being a photographer.<br><br>"Are you ready?" She asked, as we walked across the entrance of the ER right after a woman was brought out of the ambulance in a stretcher, her legs stained with blood, ready to give birth. There were pregnant women everywhere - in the hallways, sitting on the steps, walking around just waiting for their turn. I knew I had to brace myself for this.<br><br>The scent was familiar. It's only been 6 months since I got out of the hospital after giving birth to our first baby. Had I been there a couple of years ago, it would have been different. But as we walk into what was 4 rooms full of maybe a hundred of bassinets or more, I felt my knees weaken and my heart crumble. I look through the viewfinder and get ready to shoot, but all I see is a blur as tears start to well up. My heart was pounding to the rhythm of infants crying in chorus. I turn my head, three babies are sharing one bassinet while the other had two. One baby's face is already pushed against the other's knee. Can he still breathe? I look the other way and one baby's arm is as thin as my finger. There are tubes and needles, bottles of fluids running through their tiny bodies. Due to the lack of linens, three newly delivered babies share what looked like an old hand towel to keep them warm. Each was labeled with a medicine box cutout attached to their wrists with a string like a piece of evidence. It was hard to believe all of it was real. I knew there were going to be a lot of babies, but not like this. It was beyond what I expected. To say it was heartbreaking would be an understatement.<br><br>I've never seen so many babies all in one place at the same time, and seeing them in this condition just didn't feel right. But this is how it's always been in Fabella. Everyday, mothers flock to this place to give birth because it's the only place they can go to. Due to the sheer volume of women giving birth each day, some have to go home a few hours after delivery while others who can't share a tandem bed with 2-3 others to be able to rest. According to a social worker we talked to, some of them don't even want to leave. To them, it's a roof over their heads, a soft bed and regular meals. For their children, it's a far better environment to survive in for their first few days of life.<br><br>It's a sad reality to face, but it's real nonetheless. So if these images move you to help, please do with what you can, in any way you can. precioso gota de leche

my medela swing is now sporting new parts as its old silicon tubing & soft fit breastshield gave out yesterday after almost 8 months of abuse.  regular wear and tear lang naman but i guess the breastshield should have lasted a bit longer if i followed the sterilizing instructions correctly.  apparently my steam sterilizer is way too hot, na-deform tuloy yung breast shield ko.

... owel ...

buti na lang the exclusive distributor of medela & medela parts were very prompt and accomodating so my haniboy (aka my hero) was able to buy them as soon as i needed those parts.

naisip ko tuloy, if my pump suddenly quits on me wala akong choice kundi mag-express ng milk manually by hand.  tsk tsk tsk. good luck na lang sa yield ko.  haaayz...

speaking of milk yields, mine had significantly diminished for the past 2 weeks pending my period.  after almost 8 months of being period-free, aunt flo is here again. I'm NOT happy about it and i hope thats the reason why my output was too little at that time.  admittedly,  there were other factors that might have affected my supply like missing a pumping schedule several times due to my work load and me not eating my fair share of galactagouges.

ayan tuloy, nishi's milk reserves has been depleted to almost nil -- down to just 7 packs when i checked this morning.  this is really sad for me coz i want to breastfeed nishi exclusively up until she's 2 :( i dont want to give her formula but anyway i gave my yaya some instructions on how to prep her s26 gold in case maubos yung stocks ko at home.  shucks, wag naman sana!

anyways, instead of getting depressed, im gna fight this and do my best to get my old pumping yield per day.  for the meantime, i'll be upping my galactagouge consumption and pump more often whenever time permits.  ok lang if im at work but if im home malabo kasi nishi tends to be clingy whenever she sees me.  well, i'll try my best coz my milk is for her din naman.

hunnie, nishi and i will be praying for bountiful milk. hopefully id be able to rebuild my 2-weeks worth of milk stocks at home in due time.

the big 6

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails....And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13:1-8a and 13 NIV

...

to my dearest boyfriend,

happy 6th anniversary, mahal!
looking forward to swooning and falling in love more fervently than ever for years to come.

i love you!

twenty seven

27 na ako ngayon.  i sure dont look like it and i dont feel like it.  i'll stop counting my age from this point on.  ah basta, next year 27 pa din ako.  :)

my birthday this year was no biggie, just like the ones from the previous years.  hun & i went to church with yaya & nishi then after that we had lunch at le ching sa west triangle.  we had pancit (for long life daw), braised beef, wanton soup and plenty of hakao.  ~gosh, i really miss wai ying's hakao~

i also had a small and unexpected 'party' as my mom came by that afternoon, carrying a big box of choco-caramel cake from her favorite bakery, followed by my papang who brought some pizza  from pizza hut.  kumpleto siblings ko, except for jan & nigh who's in malaysia and gidz kasi daw tinatamad siya.  anyway, hindi naman pinag-usapan yun so i was really touched!

my wish for this year, just like any other year, is "sana pumayat na ako."

...

kanina i had my first shot of cervarix, the cervical cancer vax.  jaybee, ab, and aone had also taken advantage of this vax as my dependents kasi it was offered at a really low price (corporate price) to jollibee employees. o dba, here is another reason why i so love working for this company.

the shot wasnt painful.  masakit pa nga yung flu vax but as the day progresses parang mejo sore nga yung feeling sa brazo de mercedes ko.

speaking of, i weighed myself kanina while i was at the clinic and there it was:
the reality that i am 34 pounds overweight from my ideal weight (secret na kung anu yun) and 18 pounds heavier than my weight when i was 1 month pregnant with nishi.

eeeep!!

...

basta, i still have like, 4-5 months before nishi turns 1.  dapat by then pumayat na ako ng *kaunti* or at the very least dapat hindi na ako preggy-looking haha~

hala!

yuck -- i-pressure ba ang sarili?!

anyways, konting inspiration lang.  this was taken 4 years and 40 pounds ago:

kailangan na talagang ibalik ang addict days! *sigh*

the ultimate BABY STUFF must haves

i've compiled my BABY STUFF MUST HAVES for my pregnant SIL na nasa malaysia. eto na talaga yung ultimate list for me & im sharing it here as well ... hth!!

BREASTFEEDING
chempre given na that breastfeeding is best for babies (up to 2 years) pero you have to prep yourselves and have your minds set on it kasi breastfeeding is VERY TOUGH, esp sa simula. madali ma-discourage kasi nga naman very challenging ang bfeeding sa simula plus, andali-dali naman magtimpla na lang ng formula. breastfeeding requires dedication and perseverance of the mom talaga and ang daddy naman dapat magbigay talaga ng moral support & encouragement sa mom na magpa-breastfeed. I hope I can convince you guys to breastfeed talaga coz the benefits definitely outweighs all the hardship & drama (na sabi ko nga, sa simula lang naman). this is the link of the article i wrote about breastfeeding, please take time to read it kasi very helpful naman siya -- http://wankultsik.multiply.com/journal/item/482/memoirs_of_the_mama-cow

breast pump - medela manual pump - around P3000; medela electric - around P9000
if mom would be indefinetly be a stay at home mom
(SAHM), I think ok na sa inyo yung manual breastpump kasi kasama naman nya si baby all the time. She will need the pump to express breastmilk on those FEW times like pag
1) engorged na or puno na ng milk ang breast & ayaw pa ni baby mag-dede -- if you dont express your milk sasakit ito, grabe..
2) you guys are out with baby and ayaw ni mom mag-breastfeed in public, you feed using a bottle filled with previously expressed breastmilk.
3) if you guys are out & iwan si baby, baby can be fed with breastmilk in a bottle by your yaya
4) need ang pump to stimulate the breast to encourage milk production after nursing, lalo during the early days (habang wala pa or mahina pa ang milk ng mommy).

if in case mom will be working soon, she would definitely need an electric pump. may it be a manual or electric pump, i strongly suggest getting a MEDELA PUMP kasi yun talaga sure na maganda, magaling magexpress ng milk and madali gamitin and best of all, hindi masakit. this may be slightly more expensive than other brands pero everyone agrees (based on forums & reviews) that this is the best pump in the market and its worth the price. other brand na ok ang reviews are avent & ameda.

nipple cream - around P300
breastfeeding moms will definitely get sore nipples from breastfeeding the baby lalo na sa simula -- pang pain-relief baga. Avail sa SM ang pigeon breast care gel & yung palmers nipple cream. I used yung pigeon & ok naman, nakak-relieve naman. The best they say is Lasinoh pero wala kami mahanap nun sa malls pero baka sa imported section ng cash & carry sa makati meron.

breast shells - chicco brand - P200
also for pain-relief, kasi nga sore yung nipples lagi sa simula, you tuck this under the bra para the nipples wont rub against your clothes and para mabilis sila gumaling.

breast pads - P80/ 2 pairs na washable, brand is Pur
pag dumating na yung milk ng mom, sobrang dami nun, as in lagi basa ang tshirt & bedsheets so mom needs this para naman she will look decent during the day & sa gabi naman hindi mababasa yung bedsheet nyo

nursing bra - P300, sorella brand sa sm
even if you are at home the mom should use this, esp if she'll be using breastpads or breast shells kasi the nursing bra will hold them in place. Ok lang naman ang regular bra as long as may easy access/it can be readily lifted up/pulled down when baby needs to nurse

BOTTLE FEEDING
about feeding bottles, please take time to read up about BPA issues on feeding bottles on the internet. I know lahat naman tayo lumaki ng maayos without knowing that our feeding bottles before had BPA pero now that we know that they are harmful, bibili ka pa ba ng potential health-hazard for your baby? anyway, should you decide to get BPA-free bottles, cheapest i can find is sold sa ebay.ph or from online sellers sa multiply. expect to spend P100+ per bottle pag bpa free.

also, breastfed babies may encounter nipple confusion so if you can, opt for WIDE-NECK bottles -- yung matataba na bottles that uses wide nipples -- brands like AVENT / PLAYTEX / SASSY / NUBY offers wide bottles. Similar shape kasi ang mga ito sa nipple ng mom so less nipple confusion. standard-necked bottels naman (yung regular shape na nipple lang ang gamit) should be ok too. more accessible pati ang nipples ng mga ito anywhere, usually ANY brand fits any standard-necked bottles, whereas yung wide-necked bottles minsan same brand din dapat ang nipples. (ie, playtex nipples can only fit for playtex bottles)

5 oz bottles – 3 pieces or more -- P350 per 3 pcs, standard necked, gerber clearview/fashiontints (bpa free)
these are optional as younger babies usually drinks 2-4oz lang, perfect for this bottle size pero pag lumaki na siya lilipat din talaga kayo sa tig-9oz na bottles. ikaw din naman ang hahawak so it doesnt matter if its small or big diba. If you buy this, you can also use this to store expressed breastmilk or water for baby.

9 oz bottles – 6 to 9 pieces or more -- P350 per 3 pcs, standard necked, gerber clearview/fashiontints (bpa free)
get atleast 6pcs or more, mga 9-12 pcs, if you don’t want to wash & sterilize bottles more often. Babies use mga 6 bottles maghapon, plus around 3 more sa gabi.

nipples - P64 per 2 pcs, standard necked peristaltic; P200 per 2pcs latex nipples na wide by playtex
theres latex nipple (yung brown) and silicon nipples (yung white na transparent). latex nipples are more preferred by breastfed babies kasi mas malambot (similar to mom's nipples). yun lang, you need to change this more often kasi mas mabilis masira kasi
nga malambot. silicon nipples naman are more durable, long-lasting, and less choking hazard esp pag teething na si baby. any silicon nipple will do. I highly recommend PIGEON PERISTALTIC NIPPLES. These are made from very soft silicone, softer than regular ones (pero mas malambot pa din ang latex)

bottle brush cleaner - around P50
any will do, basta make sure na may attachment na brush na pang-clean ng nipple

sterilizer - farlin electric P2000
I strongly recommend getting an ELECTRIC STEAM
STERILIZER kasi very convenient to use kasi may
automatic off function. Sure its more expensive pero sulit na sulit in the long run kasi sure naman na hindi masusunog/mababasag ang bottles ni baby kahit mapabayaan and mas mabilis ang sterilization time. regular sterilizers kasi you have to wait pa for the water to boil then pag nag-boil tsaka mo lang i-time ng 5mins. pag hindi nabantayan at nasobrahan ng boil surely, sunog/basag ang bote mo hehe! -- sayang naman lalo na if mahal yung mga bottles mo.

bottle organizer - P200
para maayos lang and hindi nakakalat ang mga bote sa kitchen nyo

milk dispenser (stackable) - P60
ito yung plastic cups na patong-patong na lalagyan ng powdered milk. very useful kasi ibubuhos na lang sa bote na may tubig ang pre-potioned (pre-scooped) na milk if you will be formula-feeding

regular dishwashing liquid
ok na ang JOY DISHWASHING LIQUID to wash the
bottles / nipples. Just don’t use the anti-bac kind kasi matapang daw yun

dedicated takure
Dapat this takure will only be used for boiling water na pantimpla ng milk ni baby. sabi nga nila, to each his own but i think using bottled/distilled water for your baby is not very practical. mom & dad's drinking water should be fine as longh as you boil it for 5 minutes.

BATHING

baby tub - P250
baby will be using this until 1-2 years old. Sulit na din kasi you can use this na palanggana for laundry pag malaki na si baby

tub support / mesh - P100-200, depende sa style
buti na lang may ganito na ngayon, very helpful! Parang net siya that put on top of the tub filled with water, then dun mo papatong si baby sa net ng nakahiga para mapaliguan mo siya. With this, well supported si baby and you can use both hands na to bathe him so super dali na talaga magpaligo ng bata & hindi nakakatakot kasi nga well-supported na siya.

baby wash - aveeno P350; cethaphil - around P500+
best to get the mildest baby wash na available na NO-TEAR formulation. Ok naman johnsons top-to-toe wash which is very mild yet mabango pa din. this j&j top to toe wash was also recommended by our pedia and affordable din siya. Kung gusto nyo naman unscented you can use cetaphil instead -- fragrance free yun & hindi pa bumubula but definitely mild talaga. ok din ang aveeno daily wash pero mas mahal pero maganda naman.

bath towel - 2 pcs
dapat may sariling towel si baby. Please get 2 towels para may kapalit habang nasa laundry yung isa.

GROOMING

baby lotion - aveeno P350; Mas mura ang j&j shempre
the pink J&J baby lotion should be ok but pedia recommends getting a mild formulation na may OATMEAL something kasi very good sa dry skin ang oatmeal. my daughter uses aveeno baby daily lotion, super ganda nito pero mejo mahal at P350/8oz then hindi pa avail sa malls. i also use this even on her face and promise, dito nawala yung mga rashes nya sa face.

baby sunblock - banana boat 50 spf - P250
just in case ilalabas nyo si baby, ok na sun-protected siya. Get atleast 30spf

water sprayer - around P50
regular water sprayer, lalagyan mo ng water plus 1 dollop/squirt ng baby wash nya. For wetting ng cotton balls na gagamitin to change diapers. ako kasi i use wet cotton balls after using baby wipes para sure na malinis ang nappy area plus para mawala yung kung anu mang residue nung baby wipes. chempre kahit nakalagay dun alcohol-free eh malay ba natin diba.

rubber mats - 2pcs, around P80 each
yung goma na mat (square-square), pang-sapin sa pwet ni baby while changing diapers (or all the time if naka-lampin lang siya) para hindi mabasa or ma-dirty yung higaan nya. get 2 pcs para salitan if ever kailangan i-wash yung isa.

diaper cream - desitin, around P300 for 1 big tube
this gives protection against diaper rash and provides relief din in case may diaper rash si baby. Best to get those with Zinc sa formulation kasi zinc is good for the skin. Desitin brand is really good, slightly expensive pero sulit naman kasi 1 tube will last a really really long time

diapers
your choice if you want to use regular lampin or cloth diapers or disposable na. my daughter only used disposable nappies since birth kasi mas convenient, wala nang lalabhan and mas dry pa si baby so less prone sa diaper rash. If you opt for cloth diapers, may 2 klase nun -- gauze diaper, yung malambot na manipis na parang gauze nga, and yung birds-eye diaper, yung mas makapal at mas rigid -- slightly like yung tela na ginagamit sa cross stitching pero chempre mas malambot naman. opkors, if you will get cloth diapers, you will need about 2 dozen siguro, probably even more depende how often you can do laundry. babies esp newborns tends to pee a LOT (lagi pa may kasama poop). good luck na lang sa paglalaba. btw, good brands of disposable diapers are prokids, huggies & mamy poko. wala na raw kwenta ang pampers ngayon. lucky for us hiyang daughter ko sa unbranded diapers na teddy123 and this is much much cheaper around P7 lang per diaper. mamy poko & huggies are more expensive, around P10 per pc.

baby wipes (aka wet wipes) - giggles brand P80 per 90 sheets
I use 1-3 sheets every diaper change. get the unscented ones na alcohol free. You can actually do away with this and just use wet cottons instead pero mahirap din esp if madami poop yung baby. I use this muna to clean the area then pag malinis-linis na follow ko pa yun ng wet cotton balls
before drying

cotton balls - P55 per pack of 300pcs
you use this to clean the umbilical stump before it falls off and the nappy area too everytime you change diapers.

70% isopropyl alcohol
Walang kwenta if lower %. You use this to clean baby's umbilical stump. Also, dapat wash muna ng hands with soap & water then mag-alcohol sa kamay anyone who will carry the baby, lalong-lalo na pag newborn pa lang.

nail cutter
any nailcutter will do, pero dapat merong sariling nail cutter si baby.

comb/brush - P50, pair of comb & brush na
kahit later na lang ito pag malaki na si baby. baby ko magpa-5 months na hindi pa kelangan magsuklay hehe

HEALTH ITEMS

j&j warming baby oil
ito kailangan talaga as in! You use this when baby is colicky (kabag). Babies are more colicky pag bottle-fed, e yung baby ko breastfed na kinakabag pa din. wawa baby pag may kabag, iyak ng iyak yun. Pedia said never ever use manzanilla or alcamforado sa tummy ng baby for kabag coz it burns the skin. Eto talaga, as in, very mild pero very effective. get the biggest bottle available

salinase - around P20 sa mercury drug store
Inevitable kasi na magka-sipon ang bata and
you would want to give the baby relief siyempre. For colds at stuffy nose, put a few drops of salinase sa nose (para ma-loosen yung sipon ni baby) then
aspirate with a nose aspirator after a few minutes. This is better kasi salinase is just salt solution (not really medicated) e chempre hindi maganda magpainom ng gamot sa baby di ba.

nose aspirator - Pigeon nasal aspirator - P250
unless gusto mo na higupin yung sipon ng baby mano-mano, u will need an aspirator para mawala yung bara sa nose nung baby. those bulb-like nose aspirators simply does not work, trust me. Naka-ilang ganun kami na iba ibang brand, useless haaaayz. Get the PIGEON NASAL ASPIRATOR instead.

nebulizer - around P2000-3000
as mentioned above, hindi maganda sa baby ang nagme-medication and usually for coughs & cold, talagang intayin mo lang na gumaling. Wawa naman ang baby chempre if hirap na hirap huminga due to coughs & colds so to provide relief, you nebulize instead. maganda ito kasi very safe, walang nai-ingest si baby na harmful kasi nilalanghap nya lang yung mist ng nebulizer. very great buy ito kasi nebulizers now are portable -- parang lunchbox lang na maliit ang size. sulit talaga to get this coz this can be used whenever hika/sipon/ubo strikes anyone in your family kasi may attachment ito na pang-adult & pang-bata. we got Omron brand at P3000, watson sells this ng P3500. i heard mas mura to buy this in bambang kasi tabi-tabi dun ang medical supplies.

NSS or NaCl salt solution (a.k.a. dextrose) P100 sa mercury
Salt solution ito like salinase and ito yung lalagay nyo sa nebulizer para i-nebulize si baby. You can also use this na may halong salbutamol if prescribed ng pedia nyo if in case parang may hika si baby. yung salbutamol kasi half lang nung vial ang pine-prescribe sa mga baby, e ang konti nun (parang 12-15 drops lang!) ubos agad yun kaka-on mo pa lang nung nebulizer so you add this NSS para matagal-tagal nyo nman manebulize si baby. 1 bottle siguro will last a long long time (probably more than 6 months-1 year depende sa use)

digital thermometer - around P300-P1200
you have to have one kasi delikado for babies na lagnatin (as is i-rush daw sa OR if may fever sabi ni pedia) you need this to check if may fever nga ba talaga si baby. we got safety first brand for my girl, ear thermometer yun and it gives the reading in 3 seconds. P1200 yun (ang mahal!) may ibang digital thermometer na tig-150 to 300 lang ang price

TRAVELLING

diaper bag - baby couture, around P700 to 1800
when you're going out, this should contain diapers & baby wipes, cotton, damit ni baby, pamunas, & sapin. bottles & milk dispenser too if you bottle-feed. Kami since im breastfeeding wala ng dalang bottles . Maganda ang bags ng Baby Couture kasi may changing mat na yun na kasama plus may pockets yun sa loob to keep the bottles upright (if using) and/or keep baby's stuff organized, no need to rummage the entire bag pa when you need to get something.

carrier/sling - carriers, around P700; sling, around P1000
minsan kasi babies want to be carried instead kahit may dala kayo stroller. Best to have this para less backache for mom & dad and you can carry your baby and hands-free pa. read about 'attatchment parenting' para ma-encourage kayo to carry your babies i have yung baby sling and nakakatuwa yung attention that baby & i get whenever people see us and i love it kasi its very comfy to use.

stroller - price varies
if baby is willing to ride this while you are out eh di all the better. also, pag lumaki na si baby hirap na din naman siya i-carry ano kahit na may sling ka pa. also, this serves as my daughter's mobile nappy changing area. Haggard mag-change ng diapers sa mga cr ng malls!!

CLOTHES

receiving blankets - about 6 pcs or more, P150 per blanket
pag newborn you'll be using this more often as newborns are mostly swaddled (nakabalot) all the time. Also, you use this as a general sapin whenever you will put your baby down (sa kama, sa crib, etc). You can also use this as baby's blanket pero tuck nyo lang ng maayos underneath baby's body to prevent SIDS.

tie-sides/button-down long sleeves
tie-sides/button-down short sleeves
tie-sides/button-down sleeveless

I suggest you get mga 6pcs each lang na NB size. kasi baby will outgrow this by 1 to 1 1/2months of age. Babies change tops kasi atleast 3x a day (pagkagising, after bath, before sleeping) -- more if nabasa yung damit nya ng suka, laway, wiwi or poopoo.

mittens - about 6-12 pairs, 3 pairs for P100
babies will only use this for 1 month lang pero you have to change this mga 2x-3x a day kasi madalas isubo ng baby and pag wet na ng laway chempre dapat palitan mo na agad. Siguro mga 9 pairs ok na. Get the ones na garterized kasi yung di-tali mahirap gamitin and nahuhulog lagi.

booties / socks - about 6-12 pairs, 3 pairs for P100
babies also need this kasi their feet & their heads need to be covered all the time up until mga 1 month siguro. Better get socks na lang na de-garter din coz the ones na di-tali nahuhulog lagi.

pajamas - about 6pcs, 3 pairs for P180
depending on the weather pero maganda naka-pajama si baby sa gabi, even if its warm para you wont have to bother with a blanket anymore.

cap - about 3-6 pcs, 2 pcs for P150
keep baby's head covered most of the time, esp pag lalabas kayo. You will only need to use this up until 1 1/2 - 2 months.

gauze diapers, 1 dozen
you'll need 1 dozen coz you'll be using this A LOT as general pamunas ng baby, sapin for your clothes when burping the baby, sapin sa likod ng baby, pang-cover ng legs ni baby during the day etc.

*no need to buy BIGKIS coz this will only delay healing of umbilical stump.

STUFF FOR MOM right after delivery

maternity pads - 1 pack
after birth you will have lochia (heavy mens) and you'll be using this for several days. Buy 1 pack lang then you can use modess overnight pads na then afterwards back to regular sanitary pads na. Lochia should be gone by the 3rd week after birth if breastfeeding, longer if not.

waist-binder
if CS operation, you will need this to support your tummy area. You will need to wear this every day & even when you sleep. the hospital will supply you with 1 waist binder so i suggest buy ka pang ng 1 or 2 more para may pamalit.

panty girdle - around P400
to be worn on top of regular panties, pampaliit ng puson. my co-workers swear by this altho ako very tamad to use this.

hth!!
